Christmas in wartime

Summary

Celebrating Christmas during the six long years of the Second World War was far from easy for the civilian population but, with true British resolve, the country rose to the challenge to mark the festive season. Soundings contributor Colin looks back at the Christmases from 1939 to 1945 and how people coped with shortages and rationing.
