Summary

This summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow start on 23rd July and will offer a record number of para-medals. In parallel with this, new funding will support competitors hoping to represent the UK at the 2028 Paralympics. This article has been written by Heather and read by Alasdair.

  • Alasdair Hutton has been associated with blind welfare since the 1970s when he edited and narrated the Playback audio magazine in Glasgow and contributed to the now closed Soundaround audio magazine.

    He joined Borders Talking Newspapers in 1997 as a volunteer reader and is presently the charity’s Convener.

    Heather trained as a journalist on newspapers and worked as a reporter, sub editor and editor for more than a decade. She later switched sides to work in-house for a number of high profile public sector organisations, helping them communicate effectively with the public, stakeholders and Government Ministers.
